It is 14 years ago since I made my first diving license and since then the desire grew in me finally get to meet a whale shark. Now it happened and fortunately I could take pictures of it. Koh Tachai is a small island northeast of the Similan Islands and not far from the famous Richelieu Rock – the whale shark magnet. 3 dives in the morning at this rock formation were not been successful in this respect. Nevertheless, there was plenty to see: a school of large barracudas, lots of swarm fishes and great colorful coral blocks with all sorts of small animals. But my gaze steadily goes into the blue and to the surface. Where is the whale shark? Disappointed, we took the boat to Ko Tachhai and suddenly it was hectic on board: whale shark, whale shark … go go go … no joke! No joke!
